The people over as xobni share my hatred for the round about way messages are sent with facebook:

I’ve found Facebook messaging increasingly annoying. My inbox is full of Facebook notifications, not the content I want. I can’t count the number of times I’ve received a message, gone to someone’s profile, found their email address, typed their email address into my compose window

Unlike me though, they had the good sense to do something about it! They made a facebook app that allows (the lazy) people to send emails straight from facebook. The best part is that they add an “email me instead” button right where people would click to submit a stupid wall post.

I’d take Facebook messages over people leaving personal messages on my wall any day. The SMS notification feature on Facebook messages makes it forgivable. (Curse Rogers for getting rid of their free Email-to-SMS feature.)

Glad you like the app. It began as a weekend project, but turned into something a lot of people are talking about. I just hope all of my friends add it so I can email them instead.

Andrey: I’d rather have an email than a facebook message any day, and a facebook message over a wall post. Thanks to the transitive properties, I’ll take an email over both of those.

Matt: You can just open up your email client and send messages from there too ;-) Usually you can click reply to facebook alert emails and it’ll have your friend’s email address there.
